Dying Van Gogh Alive In New York

0

DVGNYCDying Van Gogh Records will be well represented at this year’s International Pop Overthrow festival in New York City. The longest running and most prestigious power-pop concert series hits Manhattan on November 3rd and runs through November 8th. Fans of the ultra-hip boutique record label Dying Van Gogh will be pleased to note that three of the label’s biggest acts will be performing in New York City this weekend for the IPO concert event. First to perform is Dreaming In Stereo, brainchild of ear-candy producer, singer/songwriter and heavily lauded Transcendence lead guitarist Fernando Perdomo. They take the stage at Kenny’s Castaways on November 6th at 10pm, performing what is sure to be a smoldering and melodic set comprised of songs from their self-titled debut album. Saturday afternoon promises a veritable feeding frenzy for passionista music lovers of both sexes as singer/songwriter Ed Hale (also of the Brit pop collective Transcendence) performs his first full length concert in New York in years. Supporting his latest CD Ballad On Third Avenue – which hit #14 on the CMJ College Radio Charts earlier this year – Hale continues to wow audiences from coast to coast with his emotive Bonoesque vocals, delicate Nick Drake styled ballads and trademark cathartic Jeff Buckley delivery – Hale will take the stage at 3:30PM sharp. Consistent with this year’s series of shows Hale will be backed by a six-piece acoustic band – cello included – comprised of several members of Transcendence and a few Brooklyn music-scenesters. Dying Van Gogh Records is of course also home to indie-rock sensations Ex Norwegian – who took the music-blog world by storm this year with their debut release entitled Standby. The sweat-soaked good looking two guys and a girl Miami trio deliver a thought provoking irresistibly catchy one-two punch collection of songs that are every bit as good live as the raves about them in print suggest. Surely a show not to be missed, they will close the festival on November 8th at 11pm.

All three bands are touring on and off throughout the rest of the year but this year’s IPO festival shows in New York with all three bands present hint at a possible multi-group coop tour in 2010. With the much anticipated release of the long awaited new Transcendence CD, All Your Heroes Become Villains, looming in the not too distant future (rumors point to late Winter) it would make perfect sense, (and more tantalizing) it would also make for one hell of a tour.
